Life goes along with challenges and blick of shadow that may turn off ones future hopes. This comes along due to high level of economic imbalance prevalent in our society. This great economic inequality goes unexplained which has therefore affected some individuals from reaching out to their desired goals. In the academic / educational arena, such unexplained occurrence has hampered some intellectually gifted individuals from exploiting their inborn intellectual talents and gifts, especially when the course of education is tagged to financial abilities. These are some of the critical issues that FOHU tries to look at and address them when there is affordability.
One of such critical victims is Fred Kwizera from Nyanamo village, Buhozi Parish Busanza Sub County, which boarders Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Mr. Fred completed his Senior Four in 2014 and in the results from the National Examinations, he ranked the second best student in the whole District of Kisoro, out of 2,107 students who sat these examinations in this same district that has 14 Secondary Schools.
When his progress to the next level was shattered because his family could not manage to raise fees and other requirements for the Advance Level of Education (High School education; in Senior Five), he then came to the blick of his academic career forgetting his earlier envisaged and desired profession of becoming a surgeon (Doctor). After this drop out from School, he turned to offering of casual labour in the neighbor’s cattle herd where the FOHU program coordinator found him.
Friends of humanity Uganda (FOHU) gave him renewed hope and future when he was picked and sponsored to continue his education career. He has already been rolled on at Kampala International University pursuing his coveted course in his earlier discipline of Health/ Medical course. He is offering a certificate in comprehensive nursing for two years. All his needs at this level of schooling have fully been catered for by FOHU.
